If you were a teen in the 80's and never heard of 1981's Liasions Dangereuses, Los Niños del Parque, you were probably in another planet. A great song that still sounds fresh today, nearly 33 years later, it falls into a category between classic Yello and Giorgio Moroder with a touch of cold Kraftwerk, combined with the early days of electro.
Liaisons Dangereuses just made one record that included this single, but it was one forty-minute track that completely encapsulates the sound of the early 80's, a sound that defiantly experimented with sound structure and production, a sound that survived MTV and that still has the "cult" tag on it today.
A German band with a French name singing in Spanish, was born out the of Neue Deutsche Welle movement (German New Wave). Founded in Berlin in 1981 by Beate Bartel (Mania D, Einstürzende Neubauten) and Chrislo Haas (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) together with Krishna Goineau, this cult classic was a hit in underground clubs, and continues to feature in DJ mixes in Detroit techno, Chicago House and electronic movements alike.
This is a live performance of the band at the legendary Hacienda club in Manchester in 1982.
