Many unexpected events surrounded the start of Art Basel Miami Beach 15th edition.  A travel warning was issued for Miami for its active Zika virus transmission in some popular areas of the city; uncertainty was felt by many with the newly elected president; and just 20 minutes away at Calle Ocho in Little Havana, there was a nonstop celebration out in the streets over Fidel Castro’s death.

Art Basel Miami Beach opened to the public on December 1st and run through December 4th.  It brought 269 galleries from 30 countries and showcased 21 first time exhibitors.  20 satellite fairs participated during this art week including Design Miami, NADA, and Untitled among others.  We compiled a set of images showing some of the best of Art Basel in this year’s edition.
